The collection includes correspondence, governmental reports, and organizational brochures dating from Blumenauer's involvement as a student activist at Lewis and Clark with the Youth Franchise Coalition in 1969 to his last term as a county commissioner in 1985. Earl Blumenauer, a lifelong resident of Portland, Oregon, was born in 1949 and educated at Lewis and Clark College and law school, where he earned his doctor of jurisprudence in 1976. In 1972, Blumenauer began his long and continuous association with Oregon politics as a representative to the Oregon legislature where he served until 1977.
